Bogor, Indonesia \u2013 The third day of the Summer Course 2025<\/strong> (30\/7) pushed the boundaries of tropical livestock science with a series of powerful lectures that connected animal health, cutting-edge \u201comics\u201d technologies, dairy innovation, and advanced biotechnology applications in agriculture and human health. The program, organized by IPB University\u2019s Department of Animal Production and Technology<\/strong>, in collaboration with Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU)<\/strong> and University Putra Malaysia (UPM)<\/strong>, continued to foster a global academic exchange, attracting 298 participants from 62 institutions across 12 countries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day opened with Dr. Adanan Purba (USU, Indonesia)<\/strong>, who captivated 161 participants<\/strong> with insights into \u201cThe Pivotal Role of Gastrointestinal Health in Modern Poultry Production\u201d<\/em>. Moderated by Dr. Wan Ahmad Izuddin (UPM)<\/strong>, the session revealed how optimizing gut health can dramatically boost poultry productivity, reduce disease risks, and pave the way for more sustainable farming practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From poultry science, the discussion shifted to genetics and conservation as Dr. Pitchayanipa Phongphanich<\/strong> from Prince of Songkla University, Thailand, introduced 173 participants<\/strong> to \u201cIntegrated Omics Technologies for Conservation and Improvement of Indigenous Livestock\u201d<\/em>. With guidance from Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Khairiyah Mat (UMK)<\/strong>, participants explored the revolutionary power of genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics to safeguard native breeds while enhancing their production potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the afternoon, Prof. Ir. Hotnida, M.Phil., Ph.D. (USU, Indonesia)<\/strong> brought dairy science to the forefront with a deep dive into \u201cUnderstanding the Structural and Functional Properties of Milk\u201d<\/em>. Moderated by Dr. Noor Syaheera Ibrahim (UniSZA)<\/strong>, the session, attended by 165 participants<\/strong>, unraveled the complex science behind milk\u2019s composition and its implications for nutrition, processing technology, and innovative dairy products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day concluded with a global perspective as Prof. Hasan Khatib<\/strong> from the University of Wisconsin, USA, delivered a high-impact lecture on \u201cApplication in Agriculture and Diseases Including Human Diseases\u201d<\/em>. With 180 participants<\/strong> and moderation by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Hasnita Che Harun (UMK)<\/strong>, this session bridged agricultural genetics and biomedical research, showcasing how breakthroughs in biotechnology are transforming not only livestock production but also human health solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With each session, Summer Course 2025<\/strong> continues to solidify its role as a world-class academic hub<\/strong>, connecting experts and participants in building resilient, sustainable tropical livestock systems powered by precision technologies and global collaboration.
